Compression Bonded Magnets

100% China-Free Magnet Manufacturing

Made in the U.S. with a 100% China-Free Supply Chain

As of April 4, 2025, China—supplier of over 90% of the world’s rare earth magnets—has halted magnet exports to the United States. If your business relies on bonded neodymium magnets from China, you're now facing major supply chain disruption

Magnet Applications offers a dependable, domestic solution:

Compression Bonded Neodymium Magnets manufactured entirely outside of China, with full control from powder sourcing to final magnetization and coating—right here in the U.S.

Why Magnet Applications?

  • The only U.S. supplier offering full-scale compression bonded Neo magnet production with zero reliance on China
  • 100% China-free supply chain
  • Full in-house control: tooling, coating, magnetization
  • Trusted by industrial leaders
  • Fully compliant: ITAR, DFARS, RoHS, REACH

What Are Compression Bonded Neo Magnets?

Compression bonded magnets are produced by combining neodymium-iron-boron (NdFeB) powder with a resin binder and molybdenum lubricant. The mix is pressed into molds and oven-cured, resulting in strong, dimensionally stable magnets with excellent shape flexibility and low tooling costs.

Key Characteristics:

  • Made from isotropic NdFeB powder via jet casting
  • Mixed with resin and moly lubricant
  • Mold-pressed and cured under controlled conditions
  • Operating temperature up to 150°C (302°F)

How They Compare to Other Magnet Types

Magnet Type Process Strength Shape Flexibility Best Use Cases

Compression Bonded

Resin-bonded NdFeB powder Medium Moderate Motors, sensors, encoders

Sintered Neodymium

Powder metallurgy Very High Low EVs, high-performance motors

Injection Molded

Nylon-bonded powder Low Very High Sensors, fluid-contact applications

100% China-Free Magnet Manufacturing

Our compression bonded magnets are fully manufactured in the U.S.:

  • No raw materials or processes flow through China
  • Final manufacturing, coating, and magnetization occur in our U.S. facility
  • ITAR/DFARS compliant

Where These Magnets Perform Best

Compression bonded Neo magnets are not a one-size-fits-all solution. However, in the right application, they offer unbeatable value in cost, lead time, and design flexibility.

Ideal Applications:

  • Fractional horsepower motors (fans, pumps)
  • Rotary encoders (speed/position sensors)
  • Automotive subassemblies (wipers, windows, sensors)
  • Industrial motors (especially legacy designs)
  • Aerospace & defense systems (ITAR/DFARS compliant)

Key Benefits:

  • U.S.-based manufacturing with complete process control
  • No reliance on Chinese sourcing
  • Tooling costs as low as $4,000
  • Lead times as short as 4–6 weeks
  • Custom magnetization patterns available
  • RoHS, REACH, DFARS, and ITAR compliant

Important Considerations:

  • Max temperature: 150°C (302°F) due to resin binder
  • Must be coated for humid or corrosive environments
  • Lower strength than sintered magnets—not a 1:1 replacement

Is This Magnet Right for You?

You may be a great fit if:

  • You're currently sourcing from China
  • You have legacy drawings for bonded magnets
  • You're designing a new motor or sensor that needs a U.S.-based supply.
