Injection Molded Neodymium Magnets
Injection Molded (Bonded) Neodymium Iron Boron (NdFeB) Magnets
BREMAG (molded neodymium iron boron, or NdFeB) rare earth magnets open up a new realm of design possibilities to engineers. Their high magnetic values and reduced size make them ideal for miniaturization where weight and space are at a premium.
Our unique abilities in the production of injection molded Bremag increase the scope of its application. No other magnetic material combines these performance and fabrication capabilities.
Plus, Bremag simplifies production engineering because of its resistance to chipping and cracking, its complex magnetization (click here for magnetization patterns) possibilities and its machinability.
Additionally, we have had success with hybrids of Neodymium Iron Boron and Ferrite, offering our customers an even broader range of choices.
We offer complete engineering assistance, prototyping services, fabrication and inventory management. Call our sales staff today to discuss your application.
These magnets are produced by fairly conventional injection molding techniques, using a high loaded compound of either ferrite or NdFeB powder in a nylon or plastic matrix. The applications grew dramatically in the 1980s around the consumer product markets.
We have been in manufacture of the ferrite grades since the late 1970s and have developed an unrivaled expertise in the application engineering of these unique materials.
Subassemblies
Common to both the ferrite and rare earth grades is the unique ability to mold around a shaft or into a housing, at the same time replacing gears or other detail that would otherwise require a multiple part assembly. This opens up all sorts of cost saving opportunities for a reliable and proven technology, especially as the parts are ready to use off tool due to their high precision tolerances.
Designed for the Application
The great majority of parts are designed with the user and our sophisticated modeling techniques ensure the optimization of the total system. Usually dedicated tooling is subsequently produced, however, we keep a number of blanks which can be used for machining prototypes.
Injection bonded neodymium iron boron (NdFeB) offers:
- Excellent mechanical strength and surface finish
- Injection molded magnets may be overmolded onto metal and plastic components
- Greater cracking and chipping resistance than other rare earth magnets
- May be molded into a variety of shapes and sizes
- Magnetic values up to 6 MGOe
- Simple to complex multipole magnetization patterns possible
- Co-injected assemblies
